Royal Palms Plans Multi-million Dollar Design Refresh

The Royal Palms Resort and Spa will be the latest resort to give its grounds a make-over as the Phoenix resort embarks on a multimillion-dollar renovation of its 119 rooms and presidential suite.

The renovations will also upgrade select meeting and event spaces at the resort, and will begin in June 2017. Just in time for summer, Royal Palms finished renovations on its pool and lounge area along with event lawns and landscaping. The next step of renovations will match with the resort’s most recent changes.

Guest-room and event space upgrades will be done in phases in order to have no impact on the guest experience. Many guest rooms are expected to be complete by July, with total completion expected to be finished in Fall 2017.

“Royal Palms is one of the most celebrated and cherished resorts in the country, and we intend to keep the resort’s distinct character intact, while curating an elevated guest experience,” said Geoff Gray, general manager, Royal Palms Resort and Spa.

Rooms will be lightened and brightened using the natural backdrop of desert Earth tones and framed by rich wood architectural elements. Eclectic furnishings will blend thoughtful functionality with the character of a majestic estate, such as refined bedside lamps, additional electrical outlets, and artistically etched lighted mirrors featured in bathrooms of suites and casitas. New artwork and linens will reflect the hues and lavish textures of the Mediterranean, the design influence of the original mansion. The 1,700 square-foot Presidential Suite will see improvements throughout, including upgrades to the kitchen area and additional enhancements on the private patio that showcases breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain.

Additional upgrades, naturally blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, will be made to all event lawns and include the addition of lush landscaping throughout the grounds and select design touches in the Estrella Salon and various meeting spaces.

As part of ongoing enhancements to the resort’s recreation areas, the pool deck now features new lounge chairs inspired by old Hollywood glamour, making for a share-worthy setting.

Poolside cabanas with orbit beds continue the resort’s romantic tradition, and a new seasonal culinary and cocktails menu, designed by Executive Chef Todd Allison, invokes a sense of intrigue. Guests are invited to take a dip in the glamorous Mother-of-Pearl-tiled pool or whirlpool spa, cozy up in a cabana or private hanging hammock, or even take in a yard game on the lawn – all among the poolside’s charming and chic ambiance and lush outdoor location.

“Our team at Bar Napkin Productions has a long commitment to this magical and iconic property. We are thrilled to partner with Hyatt in creating a vision that further enhances the original Mediterranean design and sophistication of the Royal Palms Resort and Spa,” said Haley Balzano, principal of Bar Napkin Productions, the design firm leading the refresh.

The resort is one of the latest additions to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
